Clements recently had the good fortune to work alongside Qatari designer, Mr Ali Al Saai during the refurbishment of a prestigious apartment situated on the seventh floor of Orchard Court in Portman Square. Considered to be one of London’s finest purpose-built apartment blocks, it is situated in a convenient position close to Oxford Street and the exclusive shops of Bond Street. Mr Al Saai is the Qatari owner’s representative and acted as overall creative director for all aspects of the new space planning and design concept, with specific responsibilities for the entire colour palette, furniture design, floor finishes, soft furnishings, wall finishes and objet d’ art.
He was instrumental in creating exquisite furniture pieces and wall decoration in a style which would appeal to the most discerning buyer and directed their manufacture and installation alongside UK specialist, Clements. These included sofas with curvaceous lines and a distinct carved form, sophisticated dining chairs with unique Chris-x legs, and a dining table with a silver motif embedded into the surface. Linking the entrance hall, reception and dining room, the wall decoration consisted of classic millwork paneling with applied enrichment mouldings, and chandeliers by Endon, selected for their timeless design qualities. French style armchairs, a credenza and console table were designed and manufactured to be sympathetic to the overall design concept. Clements and Mr Al Saai’s collaboration has resulted in the creation of a truly spectacular London apartment, modernised to an exceptionally high standard and providing superb lateral living accommodation.
